Single goal leaves Harps all at sea in Bray

Two games in three days proved too much for Harps as they went down by a single goal to Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds this evening.

Bray Wanderers…1 Finn Harps…0

Darren Murphy was hoping to add another three points to their Bank Holiday haul after captain Tony McNamee’s 80th minute goal claimed full points against Treaty Utd at Finn Park on Friday night.

But not even the Ramelton man could conjure up the necessary magic as Harps huffed and puffed to find their rhythm in Wicklow.

Shane Griffin grabbed the only goal of the game, a strike which helped Bray jump above Harps in the table.

Murphy made five changes to the side which beat Treaty and after a flat first-half, he injected new blood at the interval with Sean O’Donnell, David Cawley and Success Edogun coming on and helped to give Harps renewed hope.

But that hope did not turn into goals despite the best efforts form Patrick Ferry who was denied by Stephen McGuinness

Harps threw caution to the wind and pushed forward in the final minutes but Bray stood firm.
